Glitter Hair Video Sting #1

After learning the basics of Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 and watching a few slow motion techniques on YouTube, I have finished editing my first video sting.

Just to recap, this video project for University involved me producing two sting ads lasting no more than 15 seconds each to a client of my choice. I have chosen schwarzkopf to be my client (if you represent Schwarzkopf, and like this video I'd love some freebies, thanks!) and each theme is about looking a million pounds (with a touch of glitter) for using their hair products.

I'm really pleased with this video because I have never filmed in a studio before, let alone edited film and everything. I really hope you enjoy my first video sting!

Video credits include: Jade Wright (model), Terry Railton (hair stylist) with music by Agnes - Loaded (2012).

I'm editing the second video now so I cannot wait to share that with you soon!

Video Sting Photos

So yesterday I organised and filmed my video shoot with the help of my friends all playing a key roll. First of all, Jade Wright was my lovely model who ended up covered in loose glitter, all for the purpose of my video shoot. Im glad she handled it well and was good about being glittery for days! Second, was Terry Railton, my hairstyle assistant who did a great job at styling two hairstyles in a short amount of time and making jade look fab! Lastly there was all round help from Jordan Mansell who was our own personal wind machine, light checker and glitter thrower.

I just want to thank you all for taking time out to help me with my student work. You're all ace and I love you lots!

Now it's time to learn how to edit my video footage and make it look amazing (hopefully). Enjoy some of the photos that was taken during my video shoot.

Video Sting Brief

For a student project, I've been asked to create two video stings lasting no longer then 15 seconds each. The stings can be based on a chosen client or can be artist and say something I think needs to be said.
I've chosen to base my video stings on a hair care client after recently being inspired by this video below by Lilly Donaldson:

Lilly Donaldson - Flying Hair from Mutant Jukebox - Music & Sound on Vimeo.

I'd love to do this type of shot with glitter falling out of the hair, looking all fabulous to appeal to girls that like their shiny stuff! I'm looking forward the filming later this week!

Stay tuned for more progress! x

Party Ring Biscuit Screen Prints

Party ring anyone? This was my first ever 3 colour screen print I produced, during my first year of University. I remember cutting out each section of colour to overlap the next colour once dried. I'm going to frame one of my screen prints but i'm not quite sure where to display it.

Don't Panic Envelope Pack

Today I finally found most of my work that I did during my first year of University. My first year was full of weekly projects to help get use to meeting brief deadlines. The Don't Panic brief was based on Don't Panic UK's popular and widespread free pack that usually contains event flyers, product samples, and the usual Don't Panic poster that some of the greatest creative people have designed. Each new pack is always a surprise as to what's inside and who has designed the poster. This particular project was to design a front and back envelope pack that would make someone keep it.

I decided to launch myself into the art and design world as a new and upcoming graphic designer. Each pack distributed would be lino printed by myself to ensure enough reasons for someone to hold onto the pack in case the graphic designer (me, that they wouldn't have known upon holding my pack) actually made it big time. Perfect if I don't say so myself!

After researching past Don't Panic pack designs, I decided that my lino print would be of my actual hand print with abstract finger print marks called, 'Handprints Never Lie' to make it more personal to a potential collector. After making the pack envelope with brown paper for that authenticity look of a pack and etching my lino print design I was able to press prints to produce my final outcome.

This project has to be one of my favourite ones of my first year because I truly enjoyed the whole process and very happy with the end result. I would love to know what you think? Any future tips are more than welcome.

Website News

It's been a few months since I've been trying to create my online presence so with a new year at University recently started I'm going to try harder to promote myself in as many ways as I can.

First of all, I have been creating my professional portfolio website so that potential clients, employers, friends and family can see finished University projects and freelance work I have created. I've not finished every page of my website yet so I'm currently just showing a temporary homepage sign that lets everyone know that it's still being designed and where they can keep in touch with me.

I'm really looking forward to having a fully working portfolio website showcasing my best design work. Stay tuned for more news!
