Party Ring Biscuit Screen Prints

Party ring anyone? This was my first ever 3 colour screen print I produced, during my first year of University. I remember cutting out each section of colour to overlap the next colour once dried. I'm going to frame one of my screen prints but i'm not quite sure where to display it.

Don't Panic Envelope Pack

Today I finally found most of my work that I did during my first year of University. My first year was full of weekly projects to help get use to meeting brief deadlines. The Don't Panic brief was based on Don't Panic UK's popular and widespread free pack that usually contains event flyers, product samples, and the usual Don't Panic poster that some of the greatest creative people have designed. Each new pack is always a surprise as to what's inside and who has designed the poster. This particular project was to design a front and back envelope pack that would make someone keep it.

I decided to launch myself into the art and design world as a new and upcoming graphic designer. Each pack distributed would be lino printed by myself to ensure enough reasons for someone to hold onto the pack in case the graphic designer (me, that they wouldn't have known upon holding my pack) actually made it big time. Perfect if I don't say so myself!

After researching past Don't Panic pack designs, I decided that my lino print would be of my actual hand print with abstract finger print marks called, 'Handprints Never Lie' to make it more personal to a potential collector. After making the pack envelope with brown paper for that authenticity look of a pack and etching my lino print design I was able to press prints to produce my final outcome.

This project has to be one of my favourite ones of my first year because I truly enjoyed the whole process and very happy with the end result. I would love to know what you think? Any future tips are more than welcome.

Thanks for reading! x

Website News

It's been a few months since I've been trying to create my online presence so with a new year at University recently started I'm going to try harder to promote myself in as many ways as I can.

First of all, I have been creating my professional portfolio website so that potential clients, employers, friends and family can see finished University projects and freelance work I have created. I've not finished every page of my website yet so I'm currently just showing a temporary homepage sign that lets everyone know that it's still being designed and where they can keep in touch with me.

I'm really looking forward to having a fully working portfolio website showcasing my best design work. Stay tuned for more news!

Cute Teddy Bear Watercolour Painting

It's that time again where I find myself wanting to paint, late at night. I decided to paint this cute teddy bear. I know it's not the best painting (because the outline looks very childish, which im gutted about!) but I thought I would still share it with you guys.
I wanted to show the process incase it was going to look fab, but you can be the judge of that.
Enjoy!

Holiday 'Arty' Snaps

It's been a few days since I got back from Spain of a brilliant and well deserved holiday with my lover and family. Besides sun bathing on the lovely beaches, sipping cocktails and visiting PortAventura for a thrill seeking day we also did some sight seeing.

We visited Barcelona, La Pineda, Tarragona and of course Salou, which is where we stayed. During our explorations I managed to see various statues, sculptures and lot of bloody graffiti! The Spannish must love a good name tag here and there.
Almost didn't see this crazy piece of graffiti whilst walking around Tarragona.
Metal zebra patterned frame attached to appartments in Barcelona. Love this!
The famous La Sagrada Família church in Barcelona that was started by Antoni Gaudí in 1883.
Roy Lichtenstein's Barcelona Head sculpture.
Finally, Javier Mariscal's giant Lobster!

Late Night Art

So it seems like I have creativity bursts late at night. I fancied doing a new watercolour painting, especially as my paint and brushes I ordered had arrived. I had to test them out!
Flower Pot Watercolour Painting
Again, I fancied painting flowers, I feel this is easing me into doing this type of art. I'm not the best painter but I hope you like it in some way. I think by me showing everyone what I'm doing is helping me in some way to be more confident about what I do/produce. I would love to eventually try and do some watercolour paintings like Katherine Asher (below), because I love her work!

Watercolour Obsession!

In regards to my Summer Time List post, I wanted to do more creative things during my Summer break because I don't want to enter my second year without doing anything productive. It would be pointless of me to carry on with my degree if I didn't do anything.

On my 'to do' list I wanted to get back into more traditional art. So the other night I was home alone, the boyfriend was out with his friends so I decided to finally use my 6 year old unopened wooden art set box. The watercolour paint blocks where ok where as the brush was awful to use! Nevertheless I produced this watercolour and pencil painting of a daisy.

My Mum and Dad visted me the following morning and really loved this painting that they wanted to hang it up in their house. It now lives on their kitchen wall. I did feel a little proud seeing at their house :)
